The smugglers’ route
Details
Given to Cardinal de Mazarin in 1659, it remained a seigneurial property until the Revolution, when it was made the capital of a canton in the Haut-Rhin department, on which the commune of Boncourt depended. Boncourt was attached to this department in 1800 until 1814, when it was returned to Switzerland. Finally, in 1871, Delle was separated from Alsace along with around a hundred other towns to form the Territoire de Belfort.
